Keyword Analysis
Keyword Analysis
Hi, it’s Chuck Machado and thanks for stopping by to learn about keyword analysis. You should preform this very important function before you do anything else. It will impact the URL you choose and the SEO work will have to preform once you begin building your site. Do this first if you want to be successful.
I saw an ad posted by a company looking for help with outside sales. The services this company provides are SEO services as well as web development. I was searching for clients, but figured being an SEO company, they already knew what they were doing. I decided to check anyway.
I went to their website and looked at the source code to see the keywords they were using and trying to rank for. As I suspected, they had the company name in the keyword phrase. Let’s say the name of the company is Daniel Lewis Web Development. This is not the real name of the company.
If you were looking for a web developer would you search for Daniel Lewis Web Development?
You would not because chances are, you never heard of Daniel Lewis Web Development. Now, if his company were Microsoft, or some entity already branded, it would be a different story. Daniel Lewis is not Microsoft. His little company need an outside salesman, but if he is selling SEO work, he also needs to look at his website. People will not find him and to make certain i was right, Iran a search and this company asking for web development and seo business is on page 65. Like many companies, they don’t know what they are doing, so as a buyer and marketing person, beware of this. Learn from people who have already demonstrated that they are successful online.
What keywords should Daniel Lewis use?
You have to use specific search terms that people will use when they are searching. You only have about 5 chances for keywords before Google feels like you are a spammer, so you have to choose carefully. Daniel should be using keyword phrases people are familiar with. These would include “SEO Company, Web Designer-Your City,Cheap Search Engine Optimization”. You get the picture. Do you see what a waste of time and resources it is for him to throw away his opportunity?
Another thing you should know is that there is a huge difference between generic search terms-or broad range search-and exact search terms. Let’s discuss this.
To get customers get exact with the keyword phrase
I have a 1963 VW and I need parts. I go to the web and type in VW parts. There, I discover a wide range of people selling not only VW parts, but also companies selling tires, wiper blades and a whole slew of other items that I don’t need.
The reason these types of sites turn up is because of the way i am searching. Is it Google’s fault? Not at all. This is how people search. There is a progression of searches that most people go through.
At this point, I am GENERIC shopping. I am a tire kicker. I am looking for any information i can get about VW cars. maybe I want to buy a junker and fix it-take the parts. Maybe I want to just buy a restored one. I’m not sure what i am looking for otherwise I would have been very specific on my search.
This is how people search. They start off generic and soon move to more specific words that usually become longer phrases as they get closer to buy.
What will my next search be?
New VW parts. Now, I am getting closer to what I want, but am I ruling out used parts? How about reconditioned or rebuilt parts? After this search I decide that I don’t want to pay dealer prices and I don’t want to buy overseas, so I know i still have to narrow my search. Wait a minute…is my vehicle a bug or a bus? My next search will be very specific and I type in there words. Used 1963 VW Bug Parts.
Buyers use long tail keyword phrases
If you are marketing VW parts, you want buyers, not tire kickers or people researching the very popular car from the 70′s. In order to do this you have to get inside the head of people who are going to buy! Don’t worry, there are some good tools to help you with this. Beware-95% of the tools being sold are junk.
